The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tel-Aviv: Maccabi T-A (#1) and Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#4). Maccabi T-A (19-4) won against visiting Hapoel Tel-Aviv (14-9) 90-75. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Hapoel Tel-Aviv. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi T-A. Hapoel Tel-Aviv managed to win fourth quarter 29-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hapoel Tel-Aviv 43-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 8 rebounds. International center Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Carlon Brown (195-89, college: Colorado) answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds and the former international Raviv Limonad (191-84) added 16 points and 8 assists in the effort for Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Five Hapoel Tel-Aviv players scored in double figures. Maccabi T-A have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 19-4 record. Hapoel Tel-Aviv at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. They share it with Hapoel Eilat. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hapoel Tel-Aviv will play against Maccabi Haifa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
