Regular Season Round 23: Elizur Ashkelon - Maccabi Hasharon 110-96

Very expected game when 13th ranked Hod Hasharon (5-18) lost on the road to fifth ranked Ironi Ashkelon (12-11) 110-96 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Ironi Ashkelon. Hod Hasharon managed to win second period 32-31. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hod Hasharon 41-23 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ironi Ashkelon looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. It was an exceptional evening for Dudu Shamriz (191-91) who led the winners and scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. American guard Marcus Moore (198-80, college: Washington St.) accounted for 28 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winning side. Four Ironi Ashkelon players scored in double figures. Naturalized American guard Bryan Cohen (198-89, college: Bucknell) came up with 30 points (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and American guard Anthony Fisher (191-86) added 20 points and 7 assists respectively for Hod Hasharon in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ironi Ashkelon maintains fifth place with 12-11 record, which they share with R.Hasharon. Hod Hasharon lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Macc.B.Yaakov. Ironi Ashkelon will meet Kiryat Tivon (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hod Hasharon will play against Ironi Ramat Gan and hope to secure a win.
