Regular Season Round 23: Ironi K-A - Elitzur Ramla 102-87

There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Ironi Kiryat Ata (10-13) beat at home 8th ranked Elitzur Ramla (10-13) 102-87 on Tuesday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 102-87. Strangely Elitzur Ramla outrebounded Ironi Kiryat Ata 38-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized Canadian point guard Simon Farine (188-87) who led the winners and scored 36 points (!!!). Swingman Tomer Ber-Aven (196-92) accounted for 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. American guard Vernon Teel (193-87, college: Loyola Mary) came up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Yarin Ainhorn (-95) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Elitzur Ramla in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ironi Kiryat Ata moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Elitzur Ramla and Kiryat Tivon. Ironi Kiryat Ata will meet league's leader Ironi Nahariya on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Elitzur Ramla will play against Ramat Hasharon (#6) and hope to secure a win.
