Ninth-ranked Final Genclik (12-14) made lots of trouble for third ranked Vestel (19-8) in Manisa on Wednesday. Vestel managed to secure only two-point victory 102-100. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Final Genclik. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 31-24 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 2-point victory in overtime. Vestel outrebounded Final Genclik 52-40 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Alex Gordon (184-85, college: Vanderbilt) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 10 assists. Nigerian center Kenny Adeleke (205-83, college: Hartford) helped adding 13 points and 20 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St., agency: Two Points) with 31 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Marshall Moses (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) scored 25 points and 7 rebounds. Five Final Genclik players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Vestel. They maintain third place with 19-8 record having just three points less than leader Darussafaka, which they share with Yesilgiresun. Final Genclik at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Vestel will meet Pertevniyal (#16) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Final Genclik will play against Buyukcekmece (#8) and hope to secure a win.
