Regular Season Round 33: Vivo/Franca - Limeira 81-82

Ninth-ranked Vivo/Franca (14-16) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Winner/Limeira (19-10) in Sao Paulo. The visitors from Limeira managed to secure only one-point victory 82-81. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as Vivo/Franca took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Winner/Limeira had a 23-12 second period charge getting the lead and Vivo/Franca was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-82. American guard David Jackson (196-82, college: Penn St.) nailed 33 points (!!!) and 5 assists for the winning side and the former international center Bruno Fiorotto (208-84) accounted for 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Winner/Limeira players scored in double figures. The former international center Paulo Prestes (210-88) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and Leonardo Meindl (200-93) added 16 points respectively for Vivo/Franca in the defeat. Vivo/Franca's coach Aluisio Xavier Ferreira rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Winner/Limeira have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Vivo/Franca at the other side dropped to the tenth position with 16 games lost. Winner/Limeira will play against Unitri (#7) in Uberlandia in the next round. Vivo/Franca will play at home against Paschoalotto/Bauru and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
