Regular Season Round 40: Tsukuba R. - Tochigi Brex 76-94

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tsukuba. Fourth ranked Tochigi Brex faced one of their biggest challengers Tsukuba R.. Guests from Tochigi (26-18) defeated host Tsukuba R. (7-38) 94-76. The game was mostly controlled by Tochigi Brex. Tsukuba R. was better in third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tochigi Brex forced 93 Tsukuba R. turnovers and outrebounded them 69-45 including a 33-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. Tochigi Brex shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 61.5 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Tsukuba R.'s players. They brought some defensive toughness making 25 blocks. Tsukuba R. was plagued by 85 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Yuta Tabuse (173-80, college: BYU-Hawaii) contributed with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Tochigi Brex's coach Antanas Sireika allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Justin Reynolds (206-88, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Tsukuba R.Tochigi Brex maintains fourth position with 26-18 record which they share with defeated Tsukuba R. Tsukuba R. lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourth place with 38 games lost. Tochigi Brex will play against league's leader Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Tsukuba R. will play at home against Mitsubishi Dolphins and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
