There was no surprise when 10th ranked Shimane Magic (7-35) lost on the road to eighth ranked Oita Heat Devils (18-24) 89-75 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Oita Heat Devils. Shimane Magic was better in third quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Shimane Magic 37-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. Oita Heat Devils looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import forward Devonne Giles (203-83, college: Texas Tech) contributed with 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. Oita Heat Devils' coach Yukinori Suzuki used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Adrian Thomas (200-87, college: Miami, FL) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and point guard Kouki Yamabuchi (183-84) added 16 points and 9 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in the effort for Shimane Magic. Oita Heat Devils maintains eighth place with 18-24 record. Shimane Magic lost their tenth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 35 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
