There was no surprise in Vilagarcia Arousa where 8th ranked Cafe Barco (7-12) was defeated by sixth ranked Cortegada (9-10) 61-48 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Cortegada's pressure prevailed and they won that period 15-9 extending their advantage to 13 points. Cortegada outrebounded Cafe Barco 43-30 including 33 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Cafe Barco's players. Swingman Laura Aliaga (182-94) fired a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Forward Salome Garcia (176-92, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Maria Bolonio (180-85) produced 17 points and 7 rebounds and Brazilian guard Larisse Lima (177-88) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Cortegada maintains sixth place in Group A with 9-10 record, which they share with Arxil Pontev. Cafe Barco lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Aros Leon and Oviedo. Cortegada will meet Arxil Pontevedra (#7) on the road in the next round.
