An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Kariya. First ranked Toshiba Thunders faced top-ranked Aishin Sea Horses. Guests from Kanagawa (38-6) defeated host Aishin Sea Horses (34-11) 84-79. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-17. But Aishin Sea Horses won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) fired a double-double by scoring 31 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. International swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Toshiba Thunders' coach Takuya Kita used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) produced a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists and American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Toshiba Thunders have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 38-6 record which they share with defeated Aishin Sea Horses. Loser Aishin Sea Horses still keep top place with 11 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face Tochigi Brex (#4) on the road in the next round. Aishin Sea Horses will play against Hyogo S. and hope to win that game.
