Nea Kifisia (#5) forced the game against PAOK (#4) into an overtime, but lost by nine points 83-92 on Saturday night. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nea Kifisia won third quarter 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Nea Kifisia used huge pressure winning it 22-15 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 9-18. PAOK made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for PAOK especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Kostas Haralampidis (189-76) who helped to win the game recording 29 points. Power forward Mihalis Tsairelis (207-88) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (188-83) replied with 17 points and 7 assists and the former international forward Mihalis Kakiouzis (206-76, agency: Interperformances) added 12 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Nea Kifisia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. PAOK maintains fourth position with 14-8 record. Newly promoted Nea Kifisia keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. PAOK will face higher ranked Panionios (#3) in Athens in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Nea Kifisia will play at home against AGOR and hope to win that game.
