Regular Season Round 22: Kolossos - Panionios 75-64

There was an upset when higher ranked Panionios (15-7) lost to eleventh ranked Kolossos (8-14) in Rodou 64-75 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Kolossos. Panionios was better in third quarter 20-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panionios was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Angelos Tsamis (192-81) who helped to win the game recording 17 points. American forward Taylor Smith (198, college: SF Austin) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) replied with 26 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import guard Marc Antonio Carter (191-85, college: NC-Wilmington) added 12 points in the effort for Panionios. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kolossos maintains eleventh position with 8-14 record. Panionios at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. Kolossos will face league's leader Panathinaikos in Athens in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Panionios will play at home against PAOK having rather not much hope for a victory.
