Regular Season Round 27: La Rochelle - Vichy 78-60

Date: March 22, 2014
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed JA Vichy (18-10) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked La Rochelle (18-8) 78-60 on Saturday. La Rochelle made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 JA Vichy turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 26 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. La Rochelle looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when La Rochelle made 17 blocks. It was a great evening for point guard Samir Mekdad (188-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 13 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Jeffrey Dalmat (191-91) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five La Rochelle players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward Gregory Lessort (197-85) with 17 points and 7 rebounds and Octavio Da Silveira (204-89) scored 12 points. La Rochelle have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. JA Vichy at the other side dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. La Rochelle will face JSA Bordeaux (#9) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. JA Vichy will play against Sorgues BC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
