Regular Season Round 27: Rueil - Montbrison 83-62

Very predictable result when ninth ranked Rueil (14-13) smashed at home 17th ranked Montbrison (5-22) 83-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rueil. Montbrison was better in second period 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Montbrison to just 6 points in first quarter. Rueil made 29-of-31 free shots (93.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Montbrison 113-62 including a 57-33 advantage in offensive rebounds. Rueil shot the lights out from three sinking 21 long-distance shots on high 52.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Rueil made 23 blocks. It was a great evening for guard Daye Kaba (190-86, college: Marist) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Frederic Bourdillon (193-91) helped adding 16 points and 7 assists. Five Rueil players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Regis Aubry (199-82) with 18 points and 7 rebounds and American Keonta Howell (193-85, college: Toledo) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Rueil have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place. Montbrison lost thirteenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventeenth position with 22 games lost. Rueil will face UB Chartres (#13) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Montbrison will play against CFBB (#18) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
