Regular Season Round 33: Toyota A. - Chanson V-M 64-80

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Toyota A. (25-7) against fourth ranked Chanson V-M (23-9) on Saturday night. Host Toyota A. was defeated by Chanson V-M in Nagoya 80-64. It looked good early as Toyota A. took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Chanson V-M had a 28-14 second period charge getting the lead and Toyota A. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-80. Chanson V-M dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Toyota A.'s 48 and made 22-of-22 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. They outrebounded Toyota A. 98-82 including a 46-29 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chanson V-M shot the lights out from three nailing 21 long-distance shots on high 72.4 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 209 blocks. Toyota A. was plagued by 35 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international swingman Saori Fujiyoshi (178-87) who led her team to a victory with 22 points and 5 rebounds. The former international forward Kana Motoyama (180-90) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Mika Kurihara (178-89) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and center Mori Binge (180-88) added 15 points in the effort for Toyota A.Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chanson V-M maintains fourth place with 23-9 record. Toyota A. at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Denso Iris. Chanson V-M will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toyota A. will play again on the road against Chanson V-M in Shizuoka and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
