LF2 top team - Gernika (17-2) managed to deliver another win on Sunday. This time they beat fifth ranked Segle XXI (11-8) 77-62. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 43-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Gernika looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American center Britany Miller (193-87, college: Florida St.) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Center Patricia Valiente (185-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Gernika players scored in double figures. Maria Cazorla (180-97) produced 13 points and 6 assists and point guard Laia Raventos (170-97) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Gernika have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group B with 17-2 record. Segle XXI at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Gernika will meet at home Leganes (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Segle XXI will play against IF Air Europa and hope to secure a win.
