An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Nagoya. Second ranked Toyota Alvark faced one of their biggest challengers Mitsubishi Dolphins. Guests from Tokyo (37-8) smashed host Mitsubishi Dolphins (22-23) 94-73. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Mitsubishi Dolphins managed to win fourth quarter 26-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 41-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Toyota Alvark looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who added 17 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. At the losing side Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Jun Uzawa (197-81) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark have an impressive 20-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 37-8 record behind leader Aishin SH. Loser Mitsubishi Dolphins keep the third place with 23 games lost. Toyota Alvark will meet Hokkaido L. (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play against Tsukuba R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
