Rather expected game when 4th placed Valmadrera (3-4) lost at home to first ranked San Salvatore (5-2) 75-59 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by San Salvatore. Valmadrera was better in fourth quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. San Salvatore made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Valmadrera turnovers. It was a very good performance for swingman Alessandra Visconti (187-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds. Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. San Salvatore's coach Fabrizio Staico used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sara Pontiggia answered with 12 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Sara Canova (174-89) added 10 points in the effort for Valmadrera. San Salvatore maintains first place in Relegation Group A with 5-2 record, which they share with Cagliari A. Loser Valmadrera dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. San Salvatore will face Alghero (#4) on the road in the next round. Valmadrera will play against the league's leader Cagliari A. and hope to win that game.
