Regular Season Round 24: JuveCaserta - AV Cantu 64-60

The most important game in the last round took place in Caserta between second ranked Cantu (16-8) and eighth ranked Juvecaserta (12-12) on Sunday night. Cantu was defeated by Juvecaserta in a tough game on the road 60-64. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-14. But Cantu won second period 10-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Juvecaserta especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jeff Brooks (203-89, college: Penn St.) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Chris Roberts (193-88, college: Bradley) who added 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Stefano Gentile (191-89) with 18 points and American forward Maarten Leunen (206-85, college: Oregon) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. Cantu's coach Stefano Sacripanti rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Juvecaserta moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Grissin Bon RE. Cantu at the other side keeps the second position with eight games lost. They share it with Montepaschi and Enel Brindisi. Juvecaserta is looking forward to face Granarolo BO (#13) in Bologna in the next round where they are favorite. Cantu will play at home against Cimberio Varese (#11) and is hoping to win this game.
