There was a surprise result in Tenerife where eleventh ranked CB Canarias (10-14) defeated higher ranked G.Canaria 2014 (16-8) 72-68 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 19-8 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely G.Canaria 2014 outrebounded CB Canarias 63-48 including a 25-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. G.Canaria 2014 was plagued by 35 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian-Italian point guard Nicolas Richotti (184-86) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and American forward Lucas Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) who added 14 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Javier Beiran (199-87) with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds and Dominican forward Eulis Baez (201-82, college: W.Illinois) scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. CB Canarias moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Rio Natura Monbus. Loser G.Canaria 2014 keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. CB Canarias will face higher ranked FIATC Joventut (#9) in Badalona in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. G.Canaria 2014 will play on the road against the league's leader Real Madrid (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
