Rather predictable result in Rishon Le-Zion where eighth ranked Galil Gilboa (11-13) defeated 10th ranked Maccabi Rishon (7-17) 82-71. It looked good early as Maccabi Rishon took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Galil Gilboa had a 18-11 second period charge getting the lead and Maccabi Rishon was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-82. Strangely Maccabi Rishon outrebounded Galil Gilboa 41-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward DeShawn Sims (203-88, college: Michigan) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). Naturalized American forward Tony Younger (200-80, college: Spring Hill) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American-Qatari guard Trey Johnson (196-84, college: Jackson St., agency: Priority Sports) replied with 14 points and 6 rebounds and American power forward James Thomas (205-80, college: Texas) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Maccabi Rishon. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Galil Gilboa have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 11-13 record. Maccabi Rishon at the other side dropped to the ninth place with 17 games lost. Galil Gilboa's next round opponent will be Bnei Hasharon (#11) in Hod Hasharon. Maccabi Rishon will play on the road against Maccabi Ashdod and hope to win that game.
