Second Stage Round 7: Triestina - Milano 58-51

Date: March 23, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Milano (2-5) lost on the road to fourth ranked Triestina (4-3) 58-51 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Milano won fourth quarter 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Milano 42-28 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Hungarian forward Anna Vida (185-85, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Maria Miccoli (182-95) contributed with 8 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Triestina's coach Nevio Giuliani used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Michela Frantini (175-83) answered with 17 points and center Alessandra Calastri (193-85) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Milano. Triestina have a solid series of three victories in a row. Newly promoted Triestina maintains fourth place in Promotion Group A with 4-3 record. Loser Milano dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Triestina will face league's leader Genova on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Milano will play against Udine (#8) and hope to win that game.
