Second Stage Round 7: Torino - Vicenza 76-50
Date: March 23, 2014
Rather expected game when 5th ranked Vicenza (2-5) was smashed on the road by third ranked Torino (6-1) 76-50 on Sunday. The game without a history. Torino led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Vicenza to just 7 points in first quarter. Torino forced 20 Vicenza turnovers. It was a very good performance for guard Alice Quarta (174-91) who helped to win the game recording 12 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Center Clara Salvini (180-92) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Torino players scored in double figures. Forward Lucia Ferri (182-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and swingman Roberta Martelliano (165-92) added 8 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Vicenza. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Torino moved-up to second place in Promotion Group A, which they share with San Giovanni. Vicenza at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Torino will face Muggia (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Vicenza will play against the league's second-placed San Giovanni and hope to win that game.
