Regular Season Round 48: Takamatsu FA - Sendai 89ers 80-97

There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Takamatsu FA (18-24) was defeated at home by seventh ranked Sendai 89ers (21-21) 97-80 on Sunday. Takamatsu FA was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Sendai 89ers dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Takamatsu FA's 44. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Wendell Wendell (198-84, college: UNLV) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds and Travele Travel (203-88, college: Texas Southern) who added 18 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four Sendai 89ers and five Takamatsu FA players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sendai 89ers moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Fukuoka Rizing and Aomori Watts. Loser Takamatsu FA keeps the seventh position with 24 games lost. Sendai 89ers will face league's leader Akita Happinets at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Takamatsu FA will play against Fukuoka Rizing (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
