There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Cagliari CUS (5-15) defeated at home 7th ranked La Spezia (9-11) 73-62 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Cagliari CUS made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. International guard Cinzia Arioli (178-84) scored 31 points to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Adrienne Johnson (182-89, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Cagliari CUS's coach Antonello Restivo used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American center Marie Malone (191-89, college: Hofstra, agency: Two Points) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and guard Erika Striulli (171-90) scored 8 points and 5 assists. Cagliari CUS moved-up to eighth place, which they share with San Martino and Orvieto. Newly promoted La Spezia keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost.
