Date: March 25, 2014
Leipzig toppled SU Medien to advance into the quarterfinal stage. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-13. But Spot Up Medien Baskets won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. USC Leipzig made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American-Honduran guard Christopher Flores (188-90, college: NJIT) who led the winners and scored 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized American forward Eric Vierneisel (201-85, college: California) accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Vierneisel is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four USC Leipzig players scored in double figures. Center Maurice Pluskota (208-92) came up with 24 points and point guard Martin Bogdanov (183-92) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for Spot Up Medien Baskets in the defeat.
