Round 26 in Ethias League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Aalst where host Okapi Aalstar (15-11) beat league's leader Oostende (18-7) 93-76 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Oostende. The game without a history. Okapi Aalstar led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 16-of-17 free shots (94.1 percent) during the game. Okapi Aalstar forced 21 Oostende turnovers. Strangely Oostende outrebounded Okapi Aalstar 29-17. It was a great shooting night for Okapi Aalstar especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was American Derek Raivio (190-84, college: Gonzaga) who scored 23 points and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!). Samoan-American power forward John Tofi (203-84, college: UTEP) chipped in 17 points. Four Okapi Aalstar players scored in double figures. American guard Ryan Thompson (198-89, college: Rider) produced 20 points and Serbian-Montenegrin guard Dusan Djordjevic (193-83, agency: Beo Basket) added 16 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Okapi Aalstar maintains fifth position with 15-11 record. Defending champion Oostende dropped to the second place with seven games lost. They share the position with Liege. They were replaced at the leadership position by M.Hainaut. Oostende will play next round against league's leader Belfius Mons-Hainaut trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Okapi Aalstar will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Spirou Charleroi on the road.
