An interesting game took place in Nantes where higher ranked Aix-Maurienne (22-14) was upset on the court of fifteenth ranked Nantes (14-22) 87-60 on Friday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Aix-Maurienne. The game without a history. Nantes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Aix-Maurienne's 24 and made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Aix-Maurienne 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Nantes looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Aix-Maurienne's players. The best player for the winners was American center Todd O'Brien (213-89, college: UAB) who scored 19 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import Allen Durham (198-88, college: Grace Bible) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Nantes players scored in double figures. Nantes' coach Franck Collineau felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American Dar Tucker (193-88, college: De Paul) who recorded 24 points and 8 rebounds and center Frederic Adjiwanou (204-80, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 10 points respectively. Nantes moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Rouen. Loser Aix-Maurienne keeps the fourth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Le Portel. Nantes will meet at home higher ranked Hyeres-Toulon (#8) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Aix-Maurienne will play against Fos Ouest (#7) in Fos-sur-Mer and hope to secure a win.
