Regular Season Round 24: Palma - Zornotza 76-62
Date: March 29, 2014
Very predictable result in S'Arenal where second ranked Palma (15-7) defeated 9th ranked Zornotza (9-13) 76-62 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Palma. Zornotza was better in fourth quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Zornotza 38-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard John DiBartolomeo (183-91, college: Rochester, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 9 assists and center Antoni Vicens (203-90) who added 20 points during the contest. DiBartolomeo is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was Trinidad and Tobago center Kyle Rowley (213-90, college: St.Mary's, CA) with 11 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Antonio Lorenzo (185-82) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Palma have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-7 record behind leader Fuenlabrada. Newly promoted Zornotza keeps the ninth place with 13 games lost. Palma will face league's leader Fuenlabrada in Madrid in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zornotza will play at home against Prat (#3) and hope to win that game.
