Regular Season Round 41: Tsukuba R. - Mitsubishi DD 66-65

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 3rd placed Mitsubishi Dolphins (22-24) were edged on the road by fourth ranked Tsukuba R. (8-38) 66-65 on Saturday. Mitsubishi Dolphins were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) saved the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. His fellow American import power forward Justin Reynolds (206-88, college: Texas A&M-CC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and forward Takayuki Kumagai (190-85) added 8 points in the effort for Mitsubishi Dolphins. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Tsukuba R. maintains fourth place with 8-38 record. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost their third game in a row. They keep the third position with 24 games lost. Tsukuba R. will face again higher ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (#3) in Nagoya in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
