There was no surprise in Thessaloniki where 12th ranked Panelefsiniakos (6-17) was defeated by ninth ranked Aris (10-13) 75-61 on Saturday. The game without a history. Aris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Panelefsiniakos was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for forward Antonis Asimakopoulos (203-76) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points and 7 rebounds. Cypriot-Bulgarian Aleksandar Vezenkov (203-95, college: Xavier) helped adding 8 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Senegalese forward Mouhammad Faye (208-85, college: SMU) responded with 6 points and 12 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Rokas Uzas (202-88) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Panelefsiniakos' coach Giorgos Skarafingas rotated eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aris moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Apollon Patras. Panelefsiniakos lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 17 games lost. Aris will face Ikaros (#12) in Kalitheas in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Panelefsiniakos will play at home against Aiolos Trikallon and hope to win that game.
