An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Mikawa. Third ranked Iwate Big Bulls faced 3rd placed Hamamatsu Phoenix. Guests from Iwate (31-12) smashed host Hamamatsu Phoenix (25-18) 89-69. They outrebounded Hamamatsu Phoenix 34-22 including 21 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Panamanian forward Leonardo Pomare (203-86, college: San Diego) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. American forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) contributed with 18 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Iwate Big Bulls players scored in double figures. American guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh) answered with 12 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import forward Dior Lowhorn (201-87, college: USF) added 15 points in the effort for Hamamatsu Phoenix. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Iwate Big Bulls have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 31-12 record having six points less than leader Akita NH which they share with defeated Hamamatsu Phoenix. Hamamatsu Phoenix lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with 18 games lost. Iwate Big Bulls will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hamamatsu Phoenix will play again at home against Iwate Big Bulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
