There was a small surprise when sixteenth ranked Saint-Brieuc (10-19) defeated at home 14th ranked Cognac BB (11-18) 85-76 on Saturday. Cognac BB trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 27-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-85 at the end of the game. Saint-Brieuc made 34-of-38 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Cognac BB turnovers and outrebounded them 83-61 including a 49-27 advantage in offensive rebounds. Saint-Brieuc shot the lights out from three sinking 27 long-distance shots on high 54.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Saint-Brieuc made 28 blocks. Cognac BB was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Point guard Antoine Liorel (180-89) fired 17 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Forward Jimmy Lupot (190-83) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws). Five Saint-Brieuc players scored in double figures.
