Regular Season Round 29: Den Helder - Amsterdam 80-59
Date: March 29, 2014
Very predictable result when third ranked Den Helder (23-9) smashed at home 8th ranked Amsterdam (7-26) 80-59 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Den Helder. Amsterdam managed to win third quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Puerto Rican-American point guard Emanuel Ubilla (188-86, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: Court Side) stepped up and scored 9 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and the former international Rogier Jansen (188-84, agency: Court Side) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Four Den Helder players scored in double figures. Center Lucas Steijn (211-86, college: Idaho St.) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Aaron Roye (185-88) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Den Helder have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 23-9 record having five points less than leader Groningen. Amsterdam at the other side keeps the eighth position with 26 games lost. Den Helder are looking forward to face league's second-placed Den Bosch at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Amsterdam will play against the league's leader Groningen (#1) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
