Regular Season Round 25: Sevilla - CAI Zaragoza 79-59

Another exciting game was played in Sevilla between eighth ranked Cajasol and 5th ranked CAI Zaragoza where host Cajasol (13-12) rolled over CAI Zaragoza (15-10) with 20-point difference 79-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of CAI Zaragoza. The game was mostly controlled by Cajasol. CAI Zaragoza was better in second period 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding CAI Zaragoza to just 3 points in first quarter. They outrebounded CAI Zaragoza 67-46 including a 42-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Cajasol players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. CAI Zaragoza was plagued by 34 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Scott Bamforth (188-89, college: Weber St.) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Czech point guard Tomas Satoransky (201-91) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Cajasol players scored in double figures. Croatian forward Damjan Rudez (203-86) answered with 16 points and American guard Michael Roll (197-87, college: UCLA) added 13 points in the effort for CAI Zaragoza. CAI Zaragoza's coach Jose Luis Abos rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Cajasol moved-up to seventh place, which they share with FIATC Joventut and Laboral Kutxa. CAI Zaragoza at the other side dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Cajasol will play against league's leader Real Madrid on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. CAI Zaragoza will play against Regal FC Barcelona (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
