Regular Season Round 36: Macae - Uberlandia 72-65

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Macae (13-19) won against at home higher ranked Unitri (19-13) 72-65 on Saturday. Unitri trailed by 17 points after 3 quarters before a 27-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 65-72 at the end of the game. Macae dominated on the defensive end, holding Unitri to just 7 points in first quarter. They made 18-of-21 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Macae forced 20 Unitri turnovers. Unitri was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of center Atilio de Mello (203-82) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) who added 15 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was the former international point guard Valtinho Silva (187-77) with 15 points and 4 assists and the former international Lucas Cipolini (206-86, college: BYU-Hawaii) scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Macae maintains thirteenth position with 13-19 record. Loser Unitri dropped to the sixth place with 13 games lost.
