Seventh-ranked Sendai 89ers (21-22) made lots of trouble for first ranked Akita Happinets (36-9) on Saturday. The visitors from Akita managed to secure only two-point victory 99-97. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 99-97. Akita Happinets made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Swingman Richard Roby (198-85) chipped in 31 points and 6 rebounds. Forward DeAngelo Casto (203-90, college: Washington St.) produced 25 points and 8 rebounds and Travele Travel (203-88, college: Texas Southern) added 23 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Akita Happinets have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 36-9 record. Sendai 89ers at the other side keep the seventh position with 22 games lost. Akita Happinets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
