The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Okinawa GK (37-7) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Oita Heat Devils (19-25) 81-69. It ended at the same time the ten-game winning streak of Okinawa GK. The game was mostly controlled by Oita Heat Devils. Okinawa GK managed to win second period 15-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American swingman Gabriel McCulley (200-89, college: UTEP) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Taishiro Shimizu (183-81) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. American guard Draelon Burns (194-85, college: De Paul) replied with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Trinidad and Tobago power forward Kibwe Trim (208-84, college: Sacred Heart) added 14 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Okinawa GK. Oita Heat Devils maintains seventh position with 19-25 record, which they share with Yokohama BC. Okinawa GK at the other side still keeps top place with seven games lost. Oita Heat Devils is looking forward to face Bambitious Nara (#9) in the next round. Okinawa GK will play against Niigata Albirex (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
