Very predictable result in Athens where fifth ranked Nea Kifisia (13-10) defeated 10th ranked AGOR (9-14) 84-76 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-14. But AGOR won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Nea Kifisia made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. Nea Kifisia outrebounded AGOR 36-23 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for the former international swingman Dimitrios Tsaldaris (194-80) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points. point guard Nikos Liakopoulos (188-83) helped adding 13 points and 8 assists. Serbian guard Luka Drca (198-87, college: Utah, agency: Beo Basket) responded with 14 points and American point guard Derek Wright (179-86, college: Austin Peay St.) scored 11 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Five Nea Kifisia and four AGOR players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Nea Kifisia maintains fifth place with 13-10 record. Loser AGOR dropped to the ninth position with 14 games lost. Nea Kifisia will face Apollon Patras (#7) on the road in the next round. AGOR will play against Panionios and hope to win that game.
