No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Unicaja Malaga (16-9) smashed at home 7th ranked Laboral Kutxa (13-12) 83-64 on Sunday. The game without a history. Unicaja Malaga led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Unicaja Malaga outrebounded Laboral Kutxa 76-61 including 36 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Laboral Kutxa was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. Serbian center Vladimir Stimac (211-87, agency: Interperformances) fired a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Uruguayan-Italian guard Jayson Granger (188-89) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. Granger is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. French guard Thomas Heurtel (188-89) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 assists and international swingman Fernando San Emeterio (198-84) added 14 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Unicaja Malaga moved-up to fourth place, which they share with G.Canaria 2014. Loser Laboral Kutxa keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Unicaja Malaga will face CB Canarias (#11) in Tenerife in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Laboral Kutxa will play on the road against UCAM Murcia (#17) and hope to win that game.
