Another upset was a game between Omegna (15-11) and Barese (11-17), which took place in Barese. 4th placed Omegna lost to fifteenth ranked Barese in a road game 80-87 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Omegna won fourth quarter 27-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American power forward Ivan Elliott (203-86, college: UCSB) contributed with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Barese players scored in double figures. American point guard Mike James (185-90, college: Lamar) answered with 37 points (!!!) and Canadian-Jamaican swingman Jevohn Shepherd (196-86, college: Michigan, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Omegna. Newly promoted Barese maintains fifteenth place with 11-17 record. Loser Omegna dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Barese will face higher ranked Lucca (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Omegna will play against the league's leader Agrigento (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
