Very important is a road loss of first ranked Cocodrilos (19-5) against fifth ranked Guaiqueries (13-12) on Sunday night. Visiting Cocodrilos were defeated by Guaiqueries in a tough game in Porlamar 76-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cocodrilos. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 25-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The former international swingman Cesar Silva (190-81) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American swingman Anthony Danridge (196-86, college: N.Mexico) chipped in 18 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) during the contest. Four Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international Nestor Colmenares (203-87, college: Campbellsville) with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and the former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) scored 14 points and 8 assists. Guaiqueries maintains fifth position with 13-12 record. Defending champion Cocodrilos still keep top place with five games lost. Guaiqueries will meet bottom-ranked Panteras (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Cocodrilos will play against Guaros (#6) and hope to secure a win.
