Very important is a road loss of second ranked Marinos (18-6) against sixth ranked Guaros (12-14) on Sunday night. Visiting Marinos were defeated by Guaros in a tough game in Barquisimeto 100-104. Marinos were ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 32-27 charge of Guaros, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Marinos' 22. It was a good game for the former international swingman Rafael Guevara (193-79) who led his team to a victory with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman Devin Green (201-82, college: Hampton) contributed with 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guaros' coach Nestor Garcia allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St.) replied with 32 points and 5 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) and his fellow American import swingman Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) added 23 points in the effort for Marinos. Five Guaros and four Marinos players scored in double figures. Guaros maintains sixth position with 12-14 record. Marinos lost third consecutive game. They keep the second place with six games lost. Guaros will play against league's leader Cocodrilos in Caracas in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Marinos will play at home against Trotamundos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
