Regular Season Round 25: Maccabi Haifa - Maccabi T-A 68-66

The most exciting game of round 25 in the Winner League took place in Haifa. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of their biggest opponent Maccabi T-A (19-6) to third ranked Maccabi Haifa (16-9) 68-66 on Monday evening. Maccabi T-A was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 10-point lead after three quarters before a 28-16 charge of Maccabi Haifa, which allowed them to win the game. American-Venezuelan Donta Smith (200-83, college: SE Illinois JC) fired 16 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. American Terrence Roderick (196-88, college: UAB, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. International point guard Yogev Ohayon (189-87) produced 13 points, 7 assists and 4 steals and the former international David Blu (204-80, college: USC) added 10 points respectively for lost side. Maccabi T-A's coach David Blatt rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains third place with 16-9 record having four points less than leader Hapoel J-M, which they share with Hapoel Eilat. Maccabi T-A at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Maccabi Haifa is looking forward to face league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Maccabi T-A's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tel-Aviv to the arena Hapoel Tel-Aviv.
