Ostioneros de Guaymas (1-1) recorded a loss at the home court on Tuesday night. Hosts were edged by Caballeros de Culiacan (2-2) 87-85. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-85. The best player for the winners was American guard Abdul Mills (191-79, college: Nebraska-Omaha) who scored 28 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St., agency: I.D.S. Law) chipped in 24 points and 9 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international swingman Miguel Ayala (198-82, college: UTEP) who recorded 22 points and 8 rebounds and American swingman Marvin Roberts (195-87, college: FIU) added 17 points respectively. Four Caballeros de Culiacan and five Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Caballeros de Culiacan will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ostioneros de Guaymas will play again at home against Caballeros de Culiacan (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
