Regular Season Round 29: Monaco - Montbrison 77-51

NM1 top team - Monaco (25-3) had no problems winning another game on Tuesday. This time they crushed seventeenth ranked Montbrison (6-23) 77-51. The game was mostly controlled by Monaco. Montbrison managed to win fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Montbrison to just 3 points in second quarter and to 11 points in first half. Monaco dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Montbrison's 30. They outrebounded Montbrison 53-28 including a 18-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Monaco looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American-Nigerian Derrick Obasohan (199-81, college: Texas Arlington, agency: Beo Basket) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Serbian forward Milutin Aleksic (203-82) accounted for 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists. Monaco's coach Savo Vucevic felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Thibault Chevigny (196-88) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and American Keonta Howell (193-85, college: Toledo) added 17 points respectively for Montbrison in the defeat. Monaco maintains first place with 25-3 record. Newly promoted Montbrison keeps the seventeenth position with 23 games lost. Monaco will meet UB Chartres (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Montbrison will play against Cognac BB (#14) and hope to secure a win.
