Date: April 1, 2014
Very expected game when 13th ranked Arras (5-19) was rolled over at home by fourth ranked Basket Landes (19-5) 68-42 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Basket Landes. Arras managed to win third quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Arras to just 4 points in fourth quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of Anais Le Gluher (175-82) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and Czech center Kamila Stepanova (191-88) who added 13 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Basket Landes players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Mali center Naignouma Coulibaly (191-89) with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 20 rebounds and Canadian forward Kimberley Gaucher-Smith (186-84, college: Utah) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Arras' coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Basket Landes have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Villeneuve and Lattes Montp. Arras lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. Basket Landes will meet at home league's leader Bourges in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Arras will play against Nice (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
