Fourth-ranked Polpharma (6-19) made lots of trouble for AZS Koszalin (12-13) in Starogard on Wednesday. The visitors from Koszalin managed to secure only eight-point victory 91-83. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 18-17 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 8-point victory in overtime. AZS Koszalin made 26-of-28 free shots (92.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Polpharma outrebounded AZS Koszalin 46-32 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Polpharma was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American LaceDarius Dunn (193-87, college: Baylor, agency: Three Eye Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). The former international point guard Krzysztof Szubarga (178-84) chipped in 15 points and 7 assists. Four AZS Koszalin players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American Kevin Johnson (201-84, college: Humboldt St., agency: Hart Sports Mngm) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 23 rebounds and the other American import swingman Michael Hicks (195-83, college: Central Mo., agency: Court Side) added 19 points respectively. Polpharma's coach Tomasz Jankowski rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. AZS Koszalin will face Slask Wroclaw at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Polpharma will play against Kotwica in Kolobrzeg and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
