Thirteenth-ranked Wuber-Est.Bahia (12-17) gave a tough game to second ranked Penarol (24-6) in Mar del Plata on Thursday. Penarol managed to secure only two-point victory 93-91. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 54-43 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Penarol outrebounded Wuber-Est.Bahia 40-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for international point guard Facundo Campazzo (179-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Martin Leiva (211-80) helped adding 11 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side forward Lisandro Rasio (198-90) responded with 15 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Diego Gerbaudo (178-89) scored 12 points and 9 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Wuber-Est.Bahia's coach Sebastian Ginobili rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains second place with 24-6 record having just -1 point less than leader Regatas C. Wuber-Est.Bahia at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Penarol will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Wuber-Est.Bahia will play on the road against Argentino (#4) in Junin and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
