Regular Season Round 36: Palmeiras - Minas 63-57

Date: April 3, 2014
Everything went according to plan in Sao Paulo where eleventh ranked Palmeiras (15-17) beat 14th ranked Minas (10-22) 63-57 on Thursday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Minas won fourth quarter 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Arlindo Neto (187-86) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 rebounds and center Atila Santos (208-83, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: Warren Sports International) who added 11 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Dominican center Otis George (205-82, college: Louisville) with 8 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Douglas Nunes (201-87) scored 6 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Palmeiras have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Basquete Cearense and Vivo/Franca. Minas lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 22 games lost.
