The game between closely ranked teams ended with 3rd placed Kutaisi's (10-5) home loss to second ranked Armia (12-3) 85-96 on Friday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 96-85. Armia dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Kutaisi's 44. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Naturalized Azerbaijani forward Davit Barbakadze (203-82) answered with 21 points and Azerbaijani guard Zaur Pashayev (188-83) added 14 points and 7 assists in the effort for Kutaisi. Five Armia and four Kutaisi players scored in double figures. Armia maintains second place with 12-3 record behind leader Dinamo Tbilisi. Loser Kutaisi keeps the third position with five games lost. Armia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Sokhumi.
